Hm. What is this new fangled thing they call blogging? And who, exactly, would be interested in reading what I have to write? Do I have to spell check? Grammar check? Be P.C.? I suppose it's all about me, isn't it. What to write about.. what to write about..
How about my latest internet searches:
1. I reviewed several articles and consulted several YouTube videos about making my own composter. I'm quite sure that I will get enough scraps to make one at some point. I'd like to do it since good compost material is expensive and we have enough table scraps to support a composter. I've downloaded a comprehensive veggie list slash composting paper some poor grad student wrote. It's region specific and takes a lot of the headache out of what/when/how to plant in this area so I am grateful to that nameless person.
1.a. In the same token, I've posted an APB for any self watering containers fellow FreeCyclers in my area are willing to part with. I've decided to start a container garden for a couple of reasons.
- Containers are easier to maneuver and weeds are easier to control
- My normally $12 water bill will now be around $50 with all this extra veggie watering according to the utility company. NOT happy about that...
2. I was mildly considering getting chickens. I figured if I had chickens, I would know what they are eating and if I know what they are eating, I know what kinds of stuff ends up in their eggs. Turns out chickens aren't allowed in my town. Oh well. I guess I'll continue to spend $3 + dollars a carton on eggs.
3. I was quite panicked to learn that the craft ornaments I wanted to purchase from Oriental Trading was out of stock for another 6 weeks.. until I found them on eBay for half the price. Score.
4. I was tempted to join in the purchasing frenzy for about 10 minutes. I even excitedly pulled up different sites online to see what was on sale and who needed that item on my list. Then I pulled up my credit card statement and changed my mind.
I'm sure that was incredibly enlightening. *yawn*
